This Bicycle Camper, designed by artist Kevin Cyr, is perfect for those who enjoy both cycling and camping. It seamlessly combines the joys of biking and camping, providing a unique and innovative solution for outdoor enthusiasts. Introducing A Mobile Living Space Built into a Bicycle Camper.
The Bicycle Camper is a three-wheeled pedal bike with a camper attached to the rear, similar to a mini bicycle camper trailer or pop-up camper for bicycles that have been previously introduced.
This Bicycle Camper is a compact and innovative design, created by cutting the front 5 feet off a traditional 5th wheel camper and sealing the back end, resulting in a small and functional camper that can be attached to a bicycle.
This Bicycle Camper boasts two levels, with a cozy sleeping space on the upper level and a functional living area on the main level. Though it started as an art project, it’s fully operational and can serve as a real camper for a single person.
The camper’s upper level is designed for sleeping, providing ample space for one person to comfortably rest. The lower level is equipped with a functional kitchen and seating area, enabling you to have all the amenities of your home while traveling.
One of the standout features of the Bicycle Camper is its compact and space-saving design. It can be stored easily in a garage or shed when not in use, yet it still offers a comfortable living space for one person.
The Bicycle Camper’s three wheels (tricycle camper) make it easy to handle and stable on the road. It eliminates the need for a kickstand and you can easily stop pedaling and walk away without the fear of it tipping over.
Judging by the blueprints of the bicycle camper, you can see how the interior is designed, and how you can live inside! It features a single bed on the top level of the camper, a sofa to relax and watch TV on, along with a small cabinet/kitchen area below the counter area.
It’s intentional that the Bicycle Camper has a worn-out and dilapidated appearance, as the designer, Kevin Cyr, prefers the aesthetic of rusty and dirty vehicles.
Kevin Cyr explains his design aesthetic: “I pay tribute to commercial vehicles swamped with graffiti and rust, working vehicles, and well-traveled recreational vehicles. I find that there is so much character in old delivery trucks and vans, especially when covered with graffiti, and in the old RVs parked off a main road. Removing them from their everyday context gives them portrait-like importance. I paint with devoted attention to every imperfection and sign of age.”
In conclusion, the Bicycle Camper by Kevin Cyr is a one-of-a-kind and practical option for people who are enthusiasts of both cycling and camping. Whether you’re seeking an exciting way to discover nature or in need of a compact and convenient living space while traveling, the Bicycle Camper fits the bill.
It’s important to note that the Bicycle Camper is not available for sale or production, as Kevin Cyr has described it as a “stand-alone sculptural piece” and is the subject of a series of his paintings.
The interior of the vintage Bicycle Camper boasts a warm wooden finish, decorated with retro objects and art pieces that match the exterior design.
If funding and production for the Bicycle Camper were to become available, it would be a great option for those who enjoy both cycling and camping, especially with the addition of an electric-assist mechanism for climbing hills. And the person writing this message would be very interested in getting one.
